The Scene: Weekly Product Strategy Action Meeting

Meeting Facilitator: “Thanks for joining, everyone. Today we need to decide whether to accelerate the launch of our new mobile feature, despite some unknowns with the latest Operating System (OS) update. Let’s start by mapping out our options.”

Step 1: Evaluate Options. The team is encouraged to list two main options:

A) Stick to the original timeline and address unknowns as they appear

B) Delay launch by a month to fully test against the OS update

Each team member briefly shares pros and cons for each option.

Step 2: Mitigate Risks: The Meeting Facilitator asks, “What’s the worst-case scenario for each option, and how could we reduce those risks?”

A team member suggests a focused 48-hour sprint to test the new OS, while another, from marketing proposes a ‘soft launch’ in a limited region.

Step 3: Align Team Behind Shared Goals. The Meeting Facilitator summarizes, “Our shared goal is to deliver value quickly without sacrificing user experience.”

The team agrees on a hybrid approach: Proceed with a soft launch and intensive testing, with clear checkpoints for go/no-go decisions.

Desired Results: The team launches the feature in the pilot region, quickly identifies and resolves OS-related bugs, and confidently rolls out to all users two weeks ahead of the original schedule. Morale is high—everyone feels heard, and the agile decision-making process becomes a new team standard.
